“I’m attracted by CoRe’s expertise in facilitating structured processes of dialogue, action and learning through multi-actor platforms to address and adapt to the critical challenges of climate change, degradation and loss of biodiversity. These processes are driving systemic change in India by building capacities and strengthening resilience of communities and their livelihoods.”
Deepashree focuses on monitoring and evaluation to drive learning on progress towards equitable and inclusive environmental governance of the Commons to support resilient livelihoods in India. Based with CoRe’s longtime partner the Foundation for Ecological Security in Anand, Gujarat, she supports scaling and strengthening of multi-actor platforms and processes of state-level coalition building among broad partner networks. Deepashree has a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland, with specialization in environment, resources and sustainability. With maternal and paternal homes in districts of Shivamogga and Belgaum in Karnataka, she grew up around rich natural resources, diverse flora and fauna, and prosperous agricultural regions in India. The evidently visible effect of climate change and human-induced landscape changes in these regions and subsequent impact on communities and their livelihoods over the last two decades, played a crucial role in choosing the specialization for her masters. She brings diverse interdisciplinary experiences at the intersection of development, environment and trade, with skills in program management, capacity building and research. Her previous work experience includes the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cabo Verde in Geneva; Forum on Trade, Environment and the SDGs; World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO); United Nations Office of Project Services; ASER Centre and the Government of Madhya Pradesh in India. During her time with CoRe and FES, she hopes to contribute to bridging gaps, building effective narratives and visibility of diverse stakeholders, by strengthening their capacities and voices, to cohesively influence policies for systemic change around the Commons for livelihoods and climate mitigation and adaptation, with the overarching goal of environmental management and governance.
